The Whole Bible Rightly Divided
Welcome! At FL COGOP District 11, we are part of the worldwide Church of God of Prophecy, a dynamic, Christ-centered movement committed to orthodox Christian belief and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Our foundation for faith, doctrine, and practice is built upon the conviction that the Bible—both Old and New Testaments—is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. We commit to accepting and practicing its teachings as our highest authority.
The Core of Our Faith (Orthodox Christianity)
We are firm in our commitment to the historic tenets of Christianity:
1. The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in Three Persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.
2. Jesus Christ: Our Lord and Savior
We affirm the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death on the cross for the sins of humanity, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory at the Second Coming.
3. Salvation by Grace Through Faith
Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in:
- Repentance: A heartfelt change of mind and direction away from sin.
- Justification: God’s act of forgiving our sins and declaring us righteous through the shed blood of Jesus.
- Regeneration (New Birth): The impartation of new spiritual life by the Holy Spirit, making us new creations and children of God.
Important Bible Truths (Holiness and Pentecostal Distinctives)
While affirming the core Christian faith, we place prominent emphasis on the New Testament principles that guide our life and practice:
4. Sanctification and Holiness
We believe that Sanctification is both a definite work of grace (a setting apart for God) and a lifelong process of transformation. By the blood of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, we are enabled to pursue Holiness, which is God’s standard of living for His people (“Be holy, for I am holy.”).
5. Baptism with the Holy Spirit
We affirm the present and active ministry of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, an endowment of power for service that is subsequent to salvation and cleansing. This experience is often accompanied by the New Testament sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
6. Divine Healing
We believe that Divine Healing for the mind, body, soul, and spirit is provided for all believers through the atonement of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
7. Ordinances of the Church
We observe the ordinances given to the Church by Christ:
- Water Baptism by Immersion
- The Lord’s Supper (Communion)
- Washing the Saints’ Feet
8. Unity of Believers
We are committed to the ultimate unity of believers for which Jesus Christ prayed (John 17:20-23). We strive to visibly display this oneness, so “that the world may know, see, and believe” God’s great love for His people.
Walking in the Light
The Church of God of Prophecy recognizes that our understanding of truth is a spiritual journey. As we grow, we continually seek “greater light” that better aligns us to Scripture. This commitment is best captured in our covenant:
“Will you sincerely promise in the presence of God and these witnesses that you will accept the Bible as the Word of God—believe and practice its teachings rightly divided—the New Testament as your rule of faith and practice, government and discipline, and walk in the light to 1the best of your knowledge and abilit2y?”
Do you have questions about our beliefs or how they apply to your life?
We invite you to join us for a service at one of our churches!
